De
Bethune has a new addition to the family, the DB25 Moon Phase timepiece
features a drum case which is crafted from either 18 carat rose or
white gold. The case has the impressive diameter of 44.6 mm and 11.1 mm thick. The classic dial has is silvered gold with a guilloche pattern done entirely by hand. Below
the 12 o'clock mark lies a window revealing the De Bethune spherical
moon phase, this beautiful blue sky dotted with gold stars is nicely
complemented by the flame-blued hands and markers. The
moon phase itself consists of two hemispheres, one in steel and the
other in platinum, which is also flame-blued by hand and rotates on its
own axis. The
mechanism for turning the sphere has been calculated so accurately that
it will take 122 years before it requires a correction. The face is protected by a sapphire crystal with a 1800 Vickers hardness and a double anti-reflective treatment.
The
DB25 Moon Phase timepiece is powered by the new DB2105si hand-wound
mechanical movement which features a power reserve of up to six days. The movement contains 29 jewels and beats at a frequency of 28'800 vibrations per hour. The movement has been decorated and “colimaçonné” as well as steel chamfered and polished by hand. It has a self-adjusting double spring barrel and a silicon annular balance with flat terminal curve. The functions for the watch include hours, minutes, moon phase indication and a power reserve indicator on the back.
